A new Forrester Research study has revealed that OCC is the industry leading digital experience platform (DXP).
The analyst study evaluated the 14 most significant digital experience platform providers — Acquia, Adobe, BloomReach, Episerver, IBM, Liferay, Magento, OpenText, Oracle, Salesforce, SAP Hybris, SDL, Sitecore, and Sprinklr.
Oracle Commerce Cloud was the clear leader in Forrester’s Digital Experience Platform (DXP) ratings. Oracle Commerce Cloud led the evolving DXP market with a balance of product and platform. According to Forrester: “Oracle has one of the broadest portfolios—including, content, commerce, marketing, data, analytics, and customer care of any vendor we evaluated.” Speaking on Oracle Commerce Cloud, one industry insider observed that “no one else in the industry has the length and breadth of integration and future development dollars.”
A Milestone Season in Online Sales
The Forrester report comes close on the heels of Adobe Digital’s “Holiday Predictions” report, which forecasts the 2017 Holiday Season as the first milestone season to cross the $100 Billion mark in online sales in the United States. The report reveals that online sales have grown over 3 years from $82.5B (2015) to $94.4B (2016) to a projected online sales of $107.4B registering a 13% y-o-y growth. The Adobe report analyzed 1 trillion visits to over 4,500 retail websites, 55 million SKUs, and 12 million social mentions. It included a companion survey research with 1,100 U.S. consumers.
OCC is the Clear Leader in the DXP Space
Forrester defines DXP as ‘software to manage, deliver, and optimize digital experiences consistently across every phase of the customer life cycle’. The Forrester report researched and scored each provider on how they measure up and help application development and delivery (AD&D) professionals make the right choice. The 28 criteria evaluation spanned content, commerce, marketing, data, analytics, personalization, and customer care.
The Forrester reports key takeaways were: Oracle is the clear leader in DXP, that AD&D decision makers are looking for portfolio breadth and cohesion and conclusively, cloud, integration, and breadth are key differentiators.
Four Forces that will influence DXP
Beyond DXP platforms, Forrester identified the four forces that drive them — 1) expanding customer demands; 2) microservice architectures; 3) cloud deployments; and 4) evolving software and services economics. Given the inevitable nature of these forces, we believe digital experience decision makers should embrace evolution as a key part of their digital transformation strategy.
