The challenge of the Lionbridge web personalization project, is one facing many companies today-- designing a system capable of managing high volumes of continuous changes to web-based knowledge bases. From this business need, the LionTrack: Enterprise System was born.

LionTrack is made up of Java-developed workflow and Oracle database software running on a large Unix enterprise server. The system identifies and extracts new and modified files and routes them through translation memory software and to the appropriate translation resources, based on priority, language, and workload. Translated content is then validated by the customer's in-country support personnel and submitted back to the knowledge base.

The Technology

The software is developed entirely in Java and can be extended through the use of JavaBeans.The extensibility of the system allows us to tailor systems integration around customer's needs. The purpose of the system is to facilitate the identification and extraction of new and changed files; routing them through translation memory software and to the appropriate translation resources, based on priority, language and workload; enabling in-country validation by the customer's support personnel; and submission back to the customer's database or to the hosting environment provided by Lionbridge. Functionally, the system treats files as objects. As a result, it doesn't care what the file format is. It can handle most any file formats, including HTML, Frame, SGML, EXE, ZIP, etc.
