Senior Quality Assurance Specialist
OPPORTUNITY
As a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, you'll lead the Quality Assurance processes for McFadyen Consulting. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction into relevant software quality tools and techniques. You will be responsible for planning, defining, writing and executing test plans derived from functional requirements and user interface specifications to test functionality for multiple development projects for our clients. In addition, you will routinely communicate status to management, and proactively work with appropriate team members to resolve conflicts and software configuration problems, and work closely with technical staff toward their resolution.
The Senior QA Specialist will implement regular planning and technology/business interaction to address overall quality expectations of the company and corresponding investments in infrastructure, tools and additional test case development. You will drive and support a comprehensive set of metrics that reflect the overall quality of the product and performance of the quality assurance processes, and provide SQA process controls for the full product development life cycle.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for test planning and strategy development. Create test cases, scripts and
procedures. Direct the execution of tests and quality control functions. Generate test reports (accurately document test results).
- Assist in maintaining the technical resources required to meet test plan objectives
- Responsible for maintenance, development and management of testing simulators and performance measurement tools.
- Ensure overall systems integrity using the most current integrated testing solutions.
- Accurately record, in detail, and monitor test anomalies
- Perform QA functions in accordance with company quality processes and suggest process improvements when applicable
- Interface with Consultants and other groups in problem resolution.
- Assist in design of further use of Automated Test Tools for all products when applicable.
- Communicate quality issues with all parties involved.
- Respond to end user concerns and requests for enhancements to meet business requirements.
- Participate in project management as needed.
- Travel to client sites as needed.
- Provide weekly written status reports and expense reports.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Minimum of two years as a lead QA engineer. At least five to seven years experience in software QA testing/automation, including writing and planning test methodologies and processes. Knowledge base of CMM is a plus.
- Must have applied full life cycle development/automation experience from spec design to full implementation. Strong understanding of issues affecting the testing of web applications.
- Experience in IT/software development environment, including experience with web application development, e-commerce or e-learning.
- Experience in operations, quality assurance, release management and full product life-cycle methodologies (e.g. RUP, UML) and project management is important.
- Experience with test automation technologies and methodologies required (WinRunner, Rational Rose, or XXX) is a plus.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, specifically with respect to isolating defects during testing, documentation and repeatability.
- Experience in commercial, enterprise software domain a big plus.
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies is preferred: ATG Dynamo, Interwoven TeamSite, BroadVision, BEA WebLogic, Blue Martini, InterShop, Interworld, PlumTree, Vignette, Epicentric, IBM Websphere, Sun iPlanet.
- Experience in effective problem resolution with IT systems and individuals.
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Java, J2EE, Oracle, SQL, XML, Perl, UNIX, Solaris, Windows platform.
- Ability to adapt and excel in a fast-pace, aggressive schedule environment.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other technical staff.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and team-building skills at all levels
