Java/J2EE Developer

THE OPPORTUNITY

As an expert specializing in Java/J2EE development, you will be given the opportunity to expand your skills by building large scale eBusiness web solutions for Fortune 500 companies. You will help leading companies solve critical business needs by building upon leading-edge platforms. You will be involved in the full SDLC from analysis and planning to development and deployment. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates will implement solutions to the specific needs of our various clients by extending ATG applications running on JBoss, IBM WebSphere or other Java/J2EE platforms. Business needs must be translated into effective technical solutions using core technologies and related technologies . Scalable, complex, transactional web sites will be created quickly by leveraging commercial tools. This position’s responsibilities also include:

  • Design and develop customizations to commercial products to meet the client’s requirements including object oriented design (UML), database changes, UI changes, security definition, workflow flowcharts, and rich media applications.
  • Coding languages and environments including but not limited to Java, J2EE, EJB, JSP, XML, HTML, UNIX/Windows systems administration, Oracle, and/or Interwoven Teamsite.
  • Assist in analyzing client processes through needs analysis and recommending new business models, workflows, or innovative solutions.
  • Suggest innovative solutions to business problems/processes that leverage technology to provide marketing differentiation, efficiency improvements, and better user experiences.
  • Write documentation for requirements analysis, design specifications, test plans, deployment guides, custom training materials, or project workplans.
  • Participate in overall project management, time estimates, and resource scheduling.
  • Travel to client sites to perform consulting services with moderate overnight travel (up to 50%) possibly required.
  • Provide weekly written status reports and expense reports.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 2-5 years experience implementing web technologies, experience using J2EE.
  • Excellent technical problem solving skills and programming ability in JAVA. Development experience with JSP, Servlets, LDAP, Portlets, EJB, JDBC, SQL, JMS, XML, Oracle, web services, UML, and JNDI required.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of J2EE architecture, EJB, UML, Patterns/Frameworks, JDBC/ODBC, UML modeling & OOD skills, and J2EE integration points with external or third party products. Strong understanding of the MVC architecture or the STRUTS, Hibernate, or Spring framework.
  • Experienced in SDLC’s, RUP/XP, UML and Use Case methodologies.
  • Competence in at least two of: Windows, Solaris, Linux, or AIX.
  • Strong customer facing skills, ability to share knowledge and experience with other technical team members.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic, changing technology environment.
  • Web Services development experience desirable (e.g. XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI)
  • Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or Sybase database development and interaction (SQL, installation, tablespaces, SQLnet).
  • Experience with search engines (Verity, AltaVista, Autonomy, Endeca,etc.), analytics (Accrue, BroadBase, etc), transaction processing (CyberSource, ClearCommerce, etc.) directory services/security (Netegrity, LDAP, Active Directory) a plus.
  • Experience with related/competing technologies a plus: WebSphere Portal Server, ATG Dynamo, Interwoven, BroadVision, Vignette, eGrail, Documentum, iPlanet, BEA WebLogic, InterShop, Blue Martini, EpiCentric, PlumTree, MarketLive, Demandware, Fry,etc.
  • Sun certifications such as SCJP, SCCP, SCBCD, SCWCD a plus.
  • Written communication (requirements spec, system design, test plans).
  • Oral communication (customer interaction, requirements analysis, presentations, training).
